What is long tailed boat?

Long-tailed boats, also commonly called "long-tail boats" or "Thai-style boats", are traditional watercraft found throughout Southeast Asia, particularly in Thailand, Indonesia, and Cambodia. They are often used for fishing, transportation, and tourism activities.

The name "long-tailed boat" refers to the long propeller shaft that extends from the boat's motor, which is typically located at the stern (rear) of the boat. The propeller at the end of the shaft is shaped like a fan, and the operator of the boat can adjust the angle and depth of the propeller in the water to control the boat's speed and direction.

Long-tailed boats come in various sizes and designs, but they are all typically made of wood and have a narrow, pointed bow, which allows them to navigate shallow waters and narrow channels. They are also usually brightly painted and often decorated with ornate carvings and other embellishments.

Long-tailed boats have a longstanding cultural and economic significance in Southeast Asia and are an iconic symbol of the region's coastal communities and way of life.
